Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Vegetable Mixture

Take a bowl and add 1 1/2 cups of thinly sliced onions, 2 medium-sized chopped tomatoes, 2 chopped green chilies, and some chopped fresh coriander leaves.

Step 2: Add Spices and Mix

To the vegetables, add 1/2 tablespoon of crushed garlic, salt to taste, 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, and 2 pinches of cinnamon powder. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.

Step 3: Form the Batter

Add 1 cup of rice flour and 1 tablespoon of oil to the mixture. Mix all ingredients well. Gradually add water while mixing until a thick, flowing batter consistency is achieved. Set aside.

Step 4: Cook the Fritter (First Side)

Heat a little oil in a hot pan. Place a portion of the prepared batter into the pan and spread it to form a round shape. Sprinkle some red chili flakes on top. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on a low flame for 5 minutes.

Step 5: Cook the Fritter (Second Side)

After 5 minutes, remove the lid. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of oil on top of the fritter. Carefully flip the fritter to cook the other side. Cook for another 3-4 minutes without the lid until golden brown and crispy.

Step 6: Serve

Once both sides are golden brown and cooked through, take out the crispy onion fritter from the pan. It is now ready to serve.

Pro Tips

Ensure the batter is thick but has a flowing consistency for best results.

Cook on a low flame with a lid initially to ensure the fritter cooks through before browning.

Adjust spice levels according to your preference.

Recipe Variations

Add other grated vegetables like potatoes, carrots, or cabbage for more nutrition and flavor.

Experiment with different spices like garam masala or turmeric powder.
