Edible Fake Blood for Halloween – The One Pot Chef

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoonWater
  • 2 tablespoonsGolden Syrup (or Corn Syrup)
  • a few dropsRed Food Colouring
  • 1 dropBlue Food Colouring
  • 1/2 teaspoonCornflour (Corn Starch)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Combine Liquids

    Add 1 tablespoon of water to a bowl. Then, add 2 tablespoons of golden syrup (or corn syrup) to the water.

  2. 2.Mix Gently

    Gently mix the water and golden syrup together until combined.

  3. 3.Add Red Food Colouring

    Add a few drops of red food coloring to the mixture. Start with a couple of drops, mix it in, and then add more until you achieve the desired red shade.

  4. 4.Add Blue Food Colouring

    Add one drop of blue food coloring to the mixture. Mix it in to help create a dark, realistic 'veiny blood' color.

  5. 5.Thicken with Cornflour

    Add 1/2 teaspoon of cornflour (corn starch) to the mixture. Mix thoroughly until the cornflour is completely dissolved and the mixture starts to thicken.

  6. 6.Coagulate

    Set the bowl aside for 10 minutes to allow the edible fake blood to coagulate and achieve its final thick, gooey consistency.
