Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.
Place 1 lb (approx. 10-12 large) peeled and deveined shrimp (tails on) in a bowl.
Add 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp paprika or chili powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 large egg to the shrimp. Mix well with a fork until the shrimp are evenly coated.
In a separate bowl, add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. Take each shrimp and dredge it thoroughly in the flour, ensuring it's fully coated.
Heat 2-3 cups of vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the flour-coated shrimp into the oil. Fry for per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the fried shrimp and set aside.
Drain excess oil from the pan, leaving about 1 tbsp. Add 3-4 garlic cloves, 1-2 finely chopped green chilies, and 1/4 cup finely chopped onion to the pan. for until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
Add 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce and 1 tbsp soy sauce to the pan with the aromatics. Stir well and cook for until the sauce thickens slightly.
Add the fried shrimp back into the pan with the sauce. Toss gently to ensure all shrimp are evenly coated. Cook for another . Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with 1 tsp sesame seeds.
