  • 1 large, choppedOnions
  • 2-3, slit (as per taste)Green chilies
  • 1 sprigCurry leaves
  • 3-4 medium, cubedBoiled potatoes

  • 1 tspMustard seeds
  • 1 tspUrad dal
  • a pinchHing (asafoetida)
  • 1/2 tspTurmeric powder (Haldi)
  • to tasteSalt

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Heat Oil

    Heat 2-3 tablespoons of oil in a pan.

  2. 2.Add Mustard Seeds

    Add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds to the hot oil and let them crackle.

  3. 3.Add Urad Dal

    Add 1 teaspoon of urad dal and fry until it turns light brown.

  4. 4.Add Hing

    Add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) to the pan.

  5. 5.Add Green Chilies and Curry Leaves

    Add 2-3 slit green chilies (as per your taste) and 1 sprig of curry leaves, then fry until fragrant.

  6. 6.Sauté Onions

    Add 1 large chopped onion and sauté until it turns light brown and soft.

  7. 7.Add Turmeric

    Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder (haldi) and roast it with the onion mixture for a few seconds.

  8. 8.Add Potatoes

    Add 3-4 medium boiled and cubed potatoes to the pan.

  9. 9.Add Salt

    Add salt to taste.

  10. 10.Mix Well

    Mix all the ingredients well on high flame, ensuring the spices are evenly coated on the potatoes. Continue mixing for about 1-2 minutes.
