Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.
Boil the eggs until hard-boiled, then peel them. Boil the potatoes until tender, then peel them.
Cut the boiled potatoes into regular cubes. Finely chop the gherkin/pickle, capers, and red onion. Also, chop the black olives and the golden apple.
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and vinegar. Mix well until the sauce is homogeneous and smooth. Set aside.
Cut the frankfurter sausages into fine cubes. Heat a pan and fry the frankfurter pieces until they are nicely golden brown and slightly crispy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed potatoes, chopped hard-boiled eggs, chopped apple, chopped gherkin/pickle, chopped capers, chopped black olives, chopped red onion, and the fried frankfurter pieces.
Pour the prepared dressing over all the ingredients in the bowl. Mix everything thoroughly until all components are well coated and integrated.
Serve the German potato salad chilled. You can garnish with a few extra pickle slices and black olive rings for presentation.
