Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.
Measure out 70g of butter into a mixing bowl.
Add 70g of caster sugar to the butter in the bowl.
and sugar together using a spoon or fork until well combined and light.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder to the mixture.
Add 1 teaspoon of milk to the mixture.
Crack 1 egg into the mixture.
Mix all the wet ingredients together until well combined.
Peel and mash 1 ripe banana with a fork in a separate bowl.
Add the mashed banana to the wet mixture and stir until incorporated.
Add 70g of self-raising flour to the bowl.
Gently fold the flour into the mixture until all ingredients are just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour the banana bread batter into a 400ml baking tin.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 355°F) (fan) / 200°C (approximately 390°F) / Gas Mark 4 for about , or until golden brown and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the tin for before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
