Chilli Paneer with Cabbage – Unique Indo-Chinese Style

Ingredients

For Paneer Coating

  • 250 gPaneer
  • 1 tspRed Kashmiri Chili Powder
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  • 1 tspGaram Masala
  • 1 tbspCornflour or Rice Flour

For Stir-fry

  • 1 tbsp, choppedGarlic
  • 1 tbsp, choppedGinger
  • 1 medium, choppedGreen Bell Pepper (Capsicum)
  • 1 cup, shreddedCabbage
  • 1 medium, quarteredOnion
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tspRed Kashmiri Chili Powder
  • 1 tspGaram Masala
  • 2 tbspTomato Ketchup
  • 1 tbspSoy Sauce

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare Paneer

    Cut the paneer into small, bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl.

  2. 2.Coat Paneer with Spices

    Add 1 teaspoon of red Kashmiri chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of garam masala, and 1 tablespoon of cornflour (or rice flour) to the paneer. Mix well to ensure all paneer pieces are evenly coated.

  3. 3.Fry Paneer

    Heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add the coated paneer pieces and fry until they are lightly crispy and golden brown. Remove the fried paneer and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil. The video shows frying in two batches.

  4. 4.Sauté Aromatics

    In the same pan with the remaining oil, add 1 tablespoon of chopped garlic and 1 tablespoon of chopped ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

    Add the chopped green bell pepper (capsicum) to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes until slightly tender but still crunchy.

    Add salt to taste, 1 teaspoon of red Kashmiri chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of garam masala to the vegetables. Mix well and cook for about 1 minute.

    Pour in 2 tablespoons of tomato ketchup and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly to coat the vegetables evenly.
