Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients

In a pan, combine 1 cup of almond flour, 1 cup of desiccated coconut, 1/2 cup of milk powder, and 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder.

  2. Add Wet Ingredients and Mix (Gas Off)

Pour in 1 cup (approx 300g) of condensed milk and 1 cup of full fat milk. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with a wooden spatula while the gas is off, ensuring there are no lumps.

  3. Add Ghee and Mix

Add 2 tsp of ghee to the mixture and continue to mix well until fully incorporated.

  4. Cook the Mixture

Switch on the flame to low heat and cook the mixture, stirring continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

  5. Add Saffron Water and Thicken

Add 2-3 tbsp of saffron water (saffron soaked in hot water) to the mixture. Continue to mix and cook on low flame until the mixture thickens, comes together into a dough-like consistency, and starts to leave the sides of the pan.

  6. Spread on Tray

Once the mixture is thick and cohesive, transfer it immediately onto a greased metal plate or tray. Use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly, forming a uniform layer.

  7. Garnish with Silver Leaves and Nuts

Carefully apply edible silver leaves (Chandi Vark) over the surface of the barfi. Then, sprinkle finely chopped pistachios and almonds, followed by some rose petals, over the silver leaves.

  8. Press Toppings and Chill

Gently press the toppings onto the barfi with a spatula to ensure they adhere. Place the tray in the refrigerator for at least to allow the barfi to set completely.

  9. Cut and Serve

Once the barfi is firm and set, use a sharp knife to cut it into square or your desired shapes. Serve and enjoy the delicious Almond Coconut Barfi.
