Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sauce

Into a jug, add 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 2 cloves of garlic, 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of oyster sauce, 1.5 tablespoons of sesame oil, and 1 cup of beef stock. Give it a good stir together, then set aside.

  2. 2

    Combine Beef and Sauce

Add 700g (1.5 lbs) of beef cut into thin strips and 1 small brown onion into the pot of the slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the beef and onion. Give everything a quick stir together to ensure everything is nicely coated.

  3. 3

    Initial Cooking

Pop the lid on the slow cooker and set it on low for , or on high for about .

  4. 4

    Thicken Sauce and Add Broccoli

After the initial cooking time, remove the lid. In a separate cup, mix 3 tablespoons of cornflour (cornstarch) with 3 tablespoons of water to create a slurry, then pour it into the slow cooker. Add 1 head of broccoli, broken up into florets, to the pot. Give that another stir to make sure the broccoli is submerged in the sauce.

  5. 5

    Final Cooking

Put the lid back on and allow this to cook for another , or until the broccoli is tender.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the succulent slow-cooked beef and broccoli with rice, noodles, or by itself.
