Protein Rich Diabetic Friendly Adai

Ingredients

  • 1 cupYellow or pink Masoor dal
  • 1/4 cupKodo millets
  • FewRed chillies
  • PinchAsafoetida powder
  • To tasteSalt
  • For cookingSesame oil

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Combine and Soak Ingredients

    In a bowl, add 1 cup of yellow or pink masoor dal and 1/4 cup of kodo millets. Wash them well, then add a few red chilies and soak everything in water for 2 hours.

  2. 2.Grind the Batter

    After 2 hours of soaking, drain the water from the dal, millets, and red chilies. Transfer them to a grinder and grind into a smooth batter.

  3. 3.Season the Batter

    Add a pinch of asafoetida powder and salt to the ground batter. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

  4. 4.Prepare Adai on Tawa

    Heat a tawa (griddle) on medium heat. Pour a ladleful of the prepared batter onto the hot tawa and spread it evenly in a circular motion to form an Adai. Create a small hole in the center.

  5. 5.Cook Both Sides

    Drizzle sesame oil around the edges of the Adai. Cook until the bottom side turns golden brown and crispy. Then, flip the Adai and cook the other side until it is also golden brown and cooked through.

  6. 6.Serve

    Once cooked, remove the Adai from the tawa. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or accompaniment.
