Hotel Style Coconut Chutney Recipe

  • 1 cupGrated coconut
  • 2Green chili

  • small pieceGinger
  • small bunchCoriander leaves
  • to tasteSalt
  • as requiredWater

For Tempering

  • 1-2 tbspOil
  • 2 driedRed chili
  • 1 tspMustard seeds
  • pinchAsafoetida
  • fewCurry leaves

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Grind Coconut

    Take 1 cup of grated coconut in a mixer jar. Add required water and grind it until fine.

  2. 2.Add Spices and Herbs

    Once the coconut is partially ground, add 2 green chilies, a small piece of tamarind, a small piece of ginger, a small bunch of coriander leaves, and salt to taste.

  3. 3.Grind Again

    Grind the mixture again for a while until it reaches a slightly coarse consistency. Do not grind it too finely.

  4. 4.Transfer to Bowl

    Transfer the prepared chutney into a serving bowl.

  5. 5.Prepare Tempering

    In a small pan, heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil. Add 2 dried red chilies, 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, and a few curry leaves. Let the mustard seeds splutter and the curry leaves crisp up.

  6. 6.Temper the Chutney

    Pour the hot tempering over the coconut chutney in the bowl. Mix gently if desired, or serve as is.
