  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 2 cloves, mincedGarlic
  • 1 small, finely choppedOnion
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspRed chili powder
  • 1 cupYogurt
  • 1/2 tspSalt
  • 1/4 tspSugar
  • 2 tbsp, choppedCoriander leaves

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare the Tadka Base

    Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan over medium heat. Once melted, add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them splutter for about 10-15 seconds.

  2. 2.Sauté Aromatics

    Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 small finely chopped onion to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onions turn translucent and light golden brown.

  3. 3.Add Spices

    Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder. Cook for another 30 seconds until the spices are fragrant.

  4. 4.Prepare Yogurt

    In a separate bowl, whisk 1 cup of yogurt until smooth and lump-free.

  5. 5.Combine with Tadka

    Pour the whisked yogurt into the pan with the prepared tadka. Immediately add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of sugar.

  6. 6.Mix and Finish

    Mix everything thoroughly until well combined and the yogurt is evenly incorporated with the tadka. Stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped coriander leaves. Cook for another 1 minute, stirring continuously, ensuring the yogurt does not curdle.

    Serve the Dahi Tadka hot with steamed rice and enjoy.
