  • 200 gmPaneer
  • 2 tbspOil
  • 1 tbspButter
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 1 tbspChopped garlic
  • 1Medium size onion
  • 1 tbspGreen chilli
  • 1Tomato
  • 1 tbspRed chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1 tbspCoriander powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tspGaram masala
  • as neededCoriander leaves
  • 1Tomato puree
  • 1/2 cupWater

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Grate Paneer

    Grate 200gm of paneer and set aside.

  2. 2.Sauté Aromatics

    Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and 1 tablespoon of chopped garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

  3. 3.Add Onion and Green Chilli

    Add 1 medium-sized chopped onion and 1 tablespoon of chopped green chilli to the pan. Cook until the onion becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4.Add Tomatoes and Spices

    Add 1 chopped tomato, 1 tablespoon of red chilli powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Then add 1 tablespoon of coriander powder, salt to taste, and 1 teaspoon of garam masala. Mix well and cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil separates, about 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5.Incorporate Paneer

    Add the grated paneer and some fresh coriander leaves to the mixture. Cook for 2 minutes on high heat, stirring continuously.

  6. 6.Add Tomato Puree and Water

    Pour in 1 tomato puree and 1/2 cup of water. Stir everything together, cover the pan with a lid, and cook for another 2 minutes until the bhurji is well combined and slightly saucy.

  7. 7.Serve

    Serve the hot Paneer Bhurji with warm chapatis or parathas.
