For One Plain Dosa

  • 1 ladle (approx. 1/2 cup)Dosa batter
  • 1 tspOil or Ghee

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Heat the griddle and spread batter

    Heat a large flat griddle (tava) over medium-high heat. Once hot, pour one ladle of dosa batter onto the center of the griddle. Using the back of the ladle, quickly spread the batter in a circular motion from the center outwards to form a thin, even circle.

  2. 2.Cook the dosa

    Drizzle 1 teaspoon of oil or ghee around the edges and over the surface of the dosa. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom turns golden brown and crispy, and the edges start to lift from the griddle. Use a spatula to gently loosen the dosa from the griddle.

  3. 3.Fold and serve

    Once cooked and crispy, fold the dosa in half using the spatula. Remove from the griddle and serve hot with chutney and sambar.
