Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a large pot over medium heat.
Add the sliced almonds to the hot ghee and fry until they turn light golden brown. Remove the fried almonds and set aside for garnish.
To the remaining ghee in the pot, add the cardamom powder and fry for a few seconds until fragrant.
Pour 1.5 liters of milk into the pot. Bring the milk to a boil and then heat to medium. Let it for , stirring occasionally, until its color slightly changes and it a bit.
While the milk is , remove the crusts from the 4 bread slices and tear the bread into small pieces. Place the bread pieces in a mixer grinder and blend them into a fine powder.
Add 0.5 cup of sugar to the milk. Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely. Continue to cook for another , stirring occasionally.
Gradually add the prepared bread powder to the milk, stirring continuously to prevent any lumps from forming. Keep stirring and cook for another until the kheer thickens to your desired consistency.
Once the kheer has thickened, turn off the heat. Garnish with the fried almonds. Serve the bread kheer warm or chilled.
