  • 1 cupSuji (Semolina)
  • 3 cupWater

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Heat Ghee

    Heat 2 teaspoons of ghee in a pan over medium heat.

  2. 2.Roast Suji

    Add 1 cup of suji (semolina) to the hot ghee. Roast the suji, stirring continuously with a wooden spatula, until it turns light golden brown and fragrant, which takes approximately 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3.Add Liquids

    Carefully add 3 cups of water and 1 cup of milk to the roasted suji. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 4.Cook Suji

    Continue cooking and stirring the mixture until the suji absorbs all the liquid and thickens to a porridge-like consistency, approximately 3-5 minutes. You will see bubbles forming as it cooks.

  5. 5.Add Sugar

    Add 1 cup of sugar to the thickened suji mixture. Stir continuously until the sugar completely dissolves and is well incorporated, about 1-2 minutes.

  6. 6.Add Dry Fruits

    Add a handful of chopped dry fruits (such as almonds or cashews) to the halwa and mix them in.

  7. 7.Serve and Garnish

    Transfer the hot Suji Halwa into a serving bowl. Garnish with additional chopped dry fruits and dried rose petals before serving.
