Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare the vegetable mixture

Take a bowl and add 1 medium-sized chopped onion, 1 small-sized chopped capsicum, 1 chopped green chili, and 5 chopped ladyfingers (okra).

  2. 2.Add spices and semolina

Add half tablespoon of red chili flakes and half tablespoon of cumin seeds to the vegetables. Mix well. Then, add 1 cup of semolina (rava/sooji) to the mixture and mix again.

  3. 3.Form the batter

Gradually add 1 cup of lukewarm water while continuously mixing the ingredients until a thick batter forms. Add salt to taste, half tablespoon of coriander seeds, and some fresh chopped coriander. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.

  4. 4.Rest the batter

Cover the bowl and let the batter rest for 5 minutes.

  5. 5.Prepare the bread slices

Take 5 bread slices and cut them into any desired shape, for example, in half lengthwise.

  6. 6.Adjust batter consistency

  7. 7.Coat and cook the bread

Dip each bread slice into the semolina batter, ensuring it's well coated on one side. Heat a medium-hot pan with a little oil. Place the coated bread slices, coated side down, in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on medium-high flame until light brown, then flip and cook the other side until light brown and crispy.

  8. 8.Serve

Once both sides are light brown and cooked, remove the semolina bread toast from the pan. Serve hot with any sauce, such as tomato ketchup.
