Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.
In a bowl, add 1/2 cup chopped spinach, 1/4 cup gram flour, 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, salt to taste (approx. 1/2 tsp), 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1/4 tsp asafoetida, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala powder, chopped green coriander, and 1 chopped green chili.
Gradually add water to the mixture, mixing continuously with a spoon. Do not add too much water at once. If the batter seems too thin, add 1 more tablespoon of gram flour. Continue adding water little by little until a thick, spreadable batter is formed.
Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Once the oil is hot, pour the entire batter onto the pan. Use a spoon to spread the batter thinly and evenly across the pan.
Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top of the uncooked side of the cheela. Let it cook on low flame for until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
Carefully flip the cheela using a spatula. Sprinkle more sesame seeds on the newly exposed side. Cook for another on low flame until this side is also golden brown and crispy.
Once cooked on both sides, transfer the cheela to a plate. Cut it into desired pieces and serve hot with chutney.
No Asafoetida (hing)?
No Garam masala?
