  • 3 large, finely choppedOnions
  • to tasteSalt

  • 2-3 tspChilli Powder
  • 1.5 tspCoriander Powder
  • 1.5 tspCumin Powder
  • 5-6, finely choppedGreen Chillies
  • 1/4 cup, choppedCoriander Leaves

For Cooking

  • as neededOil

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare the Dough

Knead wheat flour with water, a little oil, and salt to form a soft dough, similar to chapati dough. Let it rest for at least 15 minutes. (The video starts with pre-made dough).

  2. 2.Prepare the Onion Filling

In a bowl, take 3 finely chopped large onions. Add salt to taste and mix well with a spoon. This helps to release moisture from the onions.

  3. 3.Add Spices to Onions

Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and 2-3 teaspoons of chili powder to the chopped onions. Then add 1.5 teaspoons of coriander powder and 1.5 teaspoons of cumin powder. Mix all the spices thoroughly with the onions.

  4. 4.Add Green Chillies and Coriander Leaves

Add 5-6 finely chopped green chilies and chopped coriander leaves to the onion mixture. Mix everything well to combine all the flavors.

  5. 5.Stuff the Paratha

Take a small portion of the kneaded dough. Flatten it slightly with your hands, creating a small cup-like shape. Place a generous amount of the prepared onion filling in the center. Carefully bring the edges of the dough together to seal the filling inside, forming a ball.

  6. 6.Roll the Paratha

Dust the stuffed dough ball with some dry wheat flour. Gently roll it out into a flat, round paratha using a rolling pin. Be careful not to press too hard, as the filling might come out. Aim for a slightly thicker paratha than a regular chapati.

  7. 7.Cook the Paratha

Heat a tawa (griddle) over medium heat. Once hot, place the rolled paratha on it. Drizzle some oil over the paratha and spread it evenly. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until small bubbles appear and the bottom side is lightly golden.

  8. 8.Flip and Cook Both Sides

Flip the paratha to the other side. Drizzle more oil and cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking.

  9. 9.Serve the Onion Paratha

Once cooked, remove the paratha from the tawa. Cut it into desired shapes (e.g., triangles) and serve hot. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Enjoy with pickle, yogurt, or chutney.
