  • 2 teaspoonsGround cinnamon
  • 1/2 cupMargarine
  • 1 cupPacked light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (optional)Chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup (optional)Raisins

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9 or 10-inch bundt pan.

  2. 2.Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine 1 cup of white sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Shake to mix well.

  3. 3.Cut Biscuit Dough

Open 3 (12-ounce) packages of refrigerated biscuit dough. Using a sharp knife, cut each biscuit into quarters.

  4. 4.Coat Biscuit Pieces

Place 6 to 8 biscuit pieces into the bag with the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Seal the bag and shake to thoroughly coat the pieces. Remove the coated pieces and repeat this process with the remaining biscuit dough.

  5. 5.Layer Biscuit Pieces in Pan

Arrange the coated biscuit pieces in the bottom of the prepared bundt pan. If desired, sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts and 1/2 cup of raisins around the biscuit pieces. Continue layering the remaining biscuit pieces, nuts, and raisins until all are used.

  6. 6.Prepare Brown Sugar Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of margarine and 1 cup of packed light brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring often with a wooden spoon, until the margarine has melted and the mixture is smooth. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it boil for 1 minute.

  7. 7.Pour Syrup Over Biscuits

Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully pour the hot brown sugar mixture evenly over the biscuits in the bundt pan.

Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until it is puffed and golden brown.

  9. 9.Cool and Unmold

Let the monkey bread cool in the bundt pan for an additional 10 minutes. To unmold, place an inverted plate over the pan, then carefully flip the pan and plate over together. Gently lift the bundt pan off the bread.

  10. 10.Serve

Serve the monkey bread warm. It's designed to be pulled apart by hand.
