Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.
Add shallots, unpeeled garlic cloves, curry leaves, dried red chilies, turmeric powder, Kashmiri chili powder, black pepper powder, fennel seeds, salt, lemon juice or vinegar, and a little water to a blender. Blend all ingredients into a smooth, thick paste.
Clean and fish deeply on both sides. Generously apply the prepared masala paste over the fish, ensuring it gets into all the scores for maximum flavor. Let it for at least , or longer for better taste.
Pour a sufficient amount of coconut oil into a frying pan and heat it over a medium flame until it's hot but not smoking.
Carefully place the fish into the hot oil. Fry for approximately on each side, or until the fish is golden brown and cooked through. Flip the fish gently to ensure even cooking.
If desired, spread any remaining masala paste on top of the frying fish during the last few minutes of cooking. Continue to fry for another to allow the fresh masala to cook and adhere to the fish.
Once the fish is perfectly fried and crispy, remove it from the pan and serve hot with rice or your preferred side dishes.
