Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, take 1/2 cup besan (gram flour) and 2 tablespoons suji (semolina).

  2. Add Vegetables and Spices

Add 1/4 cup finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup chopped capsicum, 1/4 cup grated carrot, 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves, 1 chopped green chili, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder, a pinch of turmeric, and salt as per taste to the bowl.

  3. Prepare the Batter

Mix all the ingredients well. Gradually add water and to prepare a thin but easily spreadable batter. Ensure there are no lumps.

  4. Cook the Pancakes

Heat a tawa (griddle) and grease it lightly with oil. Pour a spoonful of the prepared batter onto the hot tawa and spread it thinly into a round pancake shape. Drizzle a little oil around the edges.

  5. Flip and Cook

Cook on medium heat until the bottom turns golden and crispy. Carefully flip the pancake and cook the other side until it is also golden brown and cooked through.

  6. Serve

Remove the cooked pancake from the tawa. Repeat the process for the remaining batter. Serve the delicious breadless veggie pancakes hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
