Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.

  1. Prepare Poha

Take 1 cup of poha in a bowl. Wash it thoroughly with water, then drain the water. Add fresh water and let it soak for just until it becomes soft. This makes it easy to blend.

  2. Prepare Potato

Peel one medium-sized raw potato and grate it. Grated potato blends easily and helps create a smooth batter.

  3. Blend Ingredients

In a blender jar, add the grated raw potato, the 2-minute soaked poha, 2 tablespoons of yogurt, and a little water. Blend all these ingredients until you get a smooth mixture.

  4. Prepare Batter

Pour the blended smooth mixture into a bowl. Add 1/2 cup rice flour, 2 tablespoons suji (semolina), and salt as per taste. Mix all the ingredients well. Gradually add water while mixing to adjust the batter consistency until it is smooth and easily spreadable, similar to regular dosa batter.

  5. Cook Dosa

Heat a tawa (griddle) and lightly grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the tawa and gently spread it in a circular motion to form a dosa. You can make it thin or slightly thick according to your preference. Cover the tawa with a lid and cook on medium flame until the dosa is cooked through and golden brown on one side. Flip it and cook briefly on the other side if desired, though typically only one side is cooked for this type of dosa.

  6. Serve

Once cooked, remove the dosa from the tawa and serve hot. Repeat the process for the remaining batter. These instant poha potato dosas are ready to be served with coconut chutney, green chutney, or your favorite chutney.
