Egg Semolina Cake with Sugar Syrup

Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1/2 cupSugar
  • 1/4 portionNutmeg
  • 2Eggs
  • 1/3 cupGhee
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/2 cupSemolina
  • 1/2 cupMilk Powder
  • pinch ofBaking Powder

For the Sugar Syrup

  • 1 tbspSugar
  • 1/4 cupHot Water

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare the Egg Mixture

    In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and grate 1/4 portion of nutmeg. Add 2 eggs and whisk the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves and the mixture is frothy.

  2. 2.Add Ghee and Seasoning

    Pour in 1/3 cup of ghee and a pinch of salt. Mix well with the whisk until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture is smooth.

  3. 3.Incorporate Dry Ingredients

    Add 1/2 cup semolina, 1/2 cup milk powder, and a pinch of baking powder to the wet mixture. Mix well until a smooth, thick batter forms.

  4. 4.Prepare Baking Pan

    Grease a 6-inch baking pan with ghee. Line the bottom with baking paper and grease the paper as well to prevent sticking.

  5. 5.Add Batter and Toppings

    Pour the prepared batter into the greased and lined baking pan. Sprinkle chopped nuts (like almonds) evenly over the top of the batter.

  6. 6.Bake the Cake

    Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

    While the cake is baking, prepare the sugar syrup. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1/4 cup of hot water. Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely, then set aside to cool down.

    Once the cake is out of the oven, immediately pour or brush the cooled sugar syrup evenly over the hot cake. Let the cake cool down completely in the pan.
