  • 1/2 tspGaram Masala
  • for deep fryingOil

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Soak Soyachunks

Take 3 cups of soyachunks in a bowl. Pour boiling hot water over them until fully submerged. Cover the bowl with a plate and let them soak for 10 minutes until they become soft and plump.

  2. 2.Squeeze and Chop Soyachunks

After 10 minutes, uncover the soyachunks. Squeeze out as much water as possible from the rehydrated soyachunks. Transfer the squeezed soyachunks into a food chopper and chop them finely. Alternatively, you can use a mixer grinder for this step.

  3. 3.Chop Vegetables

In the same chopper, add 3 chopped onions, 2 raw potatoes (peeled and roughly chopped), 15-20 cloves of garlic, and 2 green chilies. Chop them finely until they are well minced.

  4. 4.Combine Ingredients and Add Spices

Transfer the chopped soyachunks and the chopped vegetables into a large mixing bowl. Add 3 tablespoons of corn flour and 3 tablespoons of gram flour (besan) for binding. Then, add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1.5 teaspoons of coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala.

  5. 5.Mix and Shape

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until a uniform mixture is formed. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into oval or cylindrical snacks, or any desired shape.

  6. 6.Deep Fry the Snacks

Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the shaped soybean snacks into the oil. Fry them in batches over medium heat, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.

  7. 7.Serve

Once fried to perfection, remove the crispy soybean snacks from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
