For Marination

  • 1/2 kgChicken
  • 2 tspGinger garlic paste
  • 1 tspChilli powder
  • 2 tspCoriander powder
  • 1/2 tspGaram masala
  • 1 tspSalt
  • 1 cupCurd or buttermilk

For Gravy

  • 3 tbspOil
  • 1Sliced onion
  • 1 tspGinger garlic paste
  • 1Grinded tomato
  • 1 tspRed chilli powder
  • someCoriander leaf
  • 1/2 tspDry fenugreek
  • 1/4 cupWater

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Marinate Chicken

    In a bowl, combine 1/2 kg chicken with 2 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp chilli powder, 2 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp salt, and 1 cup curd or buttermilk. Mix thoroughly to coat the chicken evenly and let it rest for 30 minutes.

    Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan. Add 1 sliced onion and sauté well until it turns light golden brown.

  3. 3.Add Ginger Garlic Paste

    Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste to the sautéed onions and mix well, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4.Add Tomato and Spices

    Pour in 1 grinded tomato and 1 tsp red chilli powder. Sauté this mixture for 2 minutes on medium flame until the oil separates and the masala is well cooked.

  5. 5.Cook Marinated Chicken

    Add the marinated chicken to the pan. Mix it well with the onion-tomato masala. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 7 minutes. Make sure to flip the chicken pieces after 3 minutes to ensure even cooking.

  6. 6.Finish the Curry

    Sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves and 1/2 tsp dry fenugreek over the chicken. Add 1/4 cup of water, mix gently, and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency and the chicken is fully cooked.
