  1. Mash Bananas

    Peel and place 6 ripe bananas on a plate. Mash them well using a fork until smooth. Alternatively, you can blend them in a mixer.

  2. Chop Nuts

    Finely chop almonds and cashews for garnish and to mix into the halwa.

  3. Sauté Bananas

    Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Add the mashed bananas and well for on medium heat. The banana mixture will absorb the ghee and start to come together. If needed, add another tablespoon of ghee and continue until the mixture turns slightly pale and fragrant.

  4. Caramelize Sugar

    In a separate pan, add 1 cup of sugar and 4 tablespoons of water. Let it on medium heat without stirring initially. The sugar will melt and turn into a golden-brown caramel.

  5. Combine and Cook Halwa

    Once the sugar is , immediately add the mashed banana mixture to the caramel. Mix well, ensuring there are no lumps. The mixture will start to thicken and change color to a rich brown.

  6. Add Ghee, Cardamom, and Nuts

    Add 1 tablespoon of ghee and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the halwa. Continue mixing well. Add the chopped almonds and cashews and incorporate them into the halwa. Keep stirring until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan and forms a cohesive mass, indicating it's cooked through and has a glossy finish.

  7. Serve

    Once the halwa is ready and has a thick, glossy consistency, transfer it to a serving bowl. Allow it to cool slightly. Invert it onto a plate and garnish with a cashew or additional chopped nuts. Serve warm or at room temperature.
