  • 1 kgMutton
  • 2 medium sizeOnion
  • 1 teaspoonTurmeric Powder

  • 1 teaspoonGaram Masala Powder
  • 1 tablespoonCoriander Powder
  • 1 tablespoonGinger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 cupCooking Oil
  • 1 cupYogurt
  • 1 teaspoonBlack Pepper
  • 3-4Green Chilli
  • as neededGinger (julienned)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Cook Mutton with Onions and Turmeric

    Place 1 kg mutton, 2 medium-sized chopped onions, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, and 2 glasses of water into a pan. Cover the pan with a lid.

  2. 2.Tenderize Mutton

    Cook the mutton on medium flame until it becomes tender and most of the water has evaporated. The onions should also be soft and translucent.

  3. 3.Add Spices and Aromatics

    Once the mutton is tender, add salt to taste, 1 teaspoon garam masala powder, 1 tablespoon coriander powder, and 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste to the pan. Stir well to mix all the spices with the mutton.

  4. 4.Sauté the Mutton

    Pour 1/2 cup of cooking oil into the pan. Sauté the mutton mixture on medium-high heat, stirring continuously, until the oil separates from the gravy and the mutton pieces are lightly browned.

  5. 5.Incorporate Yogurt and Black Pepper

    Add 1 cup of yogurt to the mutton mixture. Mix thoroughly until the yogurt is well combined and the gravy starts to thicken. Then, add 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder and mix again.

  6. 6.Final Simmer with Garnish

    Cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes on high flame, stirring occasionally. Add 3-4 sliced green chilies and julienned ginger. Cover the pan and leave it to simmer on low flame for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  7. 7.Serve

    Your Black Pepper Mutton is now ready. Serve hot with chapati or naan.
