Add 160g of thick cream to a mixing bowl.
Pour approximately 4 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk into the bowl with the thick cream. Adjust quantity based on desired sweetness.
Stir the cream and condensed milk thoroughly with a spoon until they are well combined and smooth.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence to the cream mixture for flavor.
Mix again until the vanilla essence is fully incorporated. Place the cream mixture in the refrigerator to chill while preparing other components.
Measure out 1.5 cups of milk. In a separate small bowl, add 1 tablespoon of custard powder.
Add a small amount of the measured milk to the custard powder and mix well to form a smooth, lump-free paste.
Pour the remaining milk into a saucepan. Add the prepared custard paste to the saucepan.
Add 1/3 cup of sugar to the milk and custard mixture in the saucepan.
Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Stir continuously until the custard slightly thickens. It should remain loose, not too thick, to allow the bread to absorb it properly.
Arrange bread slices in a serving tray, covering the bottom. The video shows fitting about 1.5 slices in a small rectangular tray.
Pour a generous amount of the hot, loose custard over the bread slices, ensuring they are completely soaked.
Spoon some of the chilled cream mixture over the custard layer. Sprinkle sliced almonds and chopped pistachios over the cream.
Add a second layer of bread slices on top of the nuts and cream.
Pour the remaining hot custard over the second bread layer, covering it completely.
Add the remaining chilled cream mixture on top of the custard, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle more sliced almonds and chopped pistachios for garnish.
Cover the tray and refrigerate for , or until the pudding is well chilled and set. This allows the bread to absorb the liquids and become soft and creamy.
Once chilled, cut the pudding into desired portions and serve. Optionally, add an extra dollop of chilled cream on top just before serving for added richness.
