Air Fryer Baked Onions with Parmesan and Herbs

  • 50 g / 1.8 ozBreadcrumbs
  • 20 g / 0.7 ozParmesan Cheese
  • 1 small bunchParsley
  • 1 tbspOlive Oil

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare the Onions

    Cut the ends off 8 small onions, then slice them in half. Peel the skin off each onion half. You can also use 2 large onions cut into 2cm slices.

  2. 2.Wash the Onions

    Place the peeled onion halves in a bowl of water and wash them thoroughly.

  3. 3.Season and Air Fry (First Round)

    Arrange the washed onion halves in the air fryer basket. Spray them generously with olive oil or seed oil. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cook in the Air Fryer at 160 °C / 320 °F for 30 minutes.

  4. 4.Prepare the Topping

    While the onions are cooking, finely chop the parsley. In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and a drizzle of olive oil. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.

  5. 5.Add Topping and Air Fry (Second Round)

    Once the first cooking cycle is complete, remove the air fryer basket. Carefully spoon the breadcrumb mixture over each onion half, pressing gently to adhere. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook at 180 °C / 356 °F for another 10 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy.

    Once cooked, carefully remove the baked onions from the air fryer and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious and crispy air-fried onions!
