Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Once hot, add 4 cloves and for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add 2 finely chopped medium-sized onions to the pan. until they become soft and turn a light golden color.
Once onions are soft, add 2 chopped medium-sized tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes soften and mash well with the onions. Then, add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1/2 tsp pepper powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, and salt to taste.
Mix all the spices well with the onion and tomato mixture. Cook on a low flame for about until the oil starts to separate from the masala.
Add 5 chicken drumsticks to the pan. Mix them thoroughly with the masala, ensuring all sides are well coated. Continue to on low flame until the oil separates again, indicating the chicken is absorbing the flavors.
Pour in 250ml of water and add 2 green chillies for extra spice and flavor. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
Cover the pan with a lid and cook for on medium heat. The chicken should be tender and the gravy should have thickened.
Flip the chicken pieces to ensure even cooking and coat them again with the gravy. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. If you prefer a thicker gravy, cover and cook for an additional on low flame.
