Spicy Tawa Chicken

Ingredients

For Marination

  • 300 gChicken
  • 1 tspGinger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  • to tasteSalt

For Tawa Chicken

  • 2 tbspOil
  • 1 pod (approx. 5-6 cloves), crushedGarlic
  • 1 bowl, finely choppedOnion
  • 5-6, finely chopped (adjust to taste)Green Chilies
  • a few sprigsCurry Leaves
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 bowl, finely choppedTomato
  • 1 tspCoriander Powder
  • 1 tspGaram Masala
  • 1/2 tspJeera Powder (Cumin Powder)
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tspPepper Powder
  • 2 tsp (adjust to taste)Chilli Powder
  • chopped, for garnishCoriander Leaves

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Marinate Chicken

    Take 300g chicken pieces and marinate them with ginger garlic paste, salt, and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder. Let it marinate for 20 minutes.

  2. 2.Sauté Garlic

    Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a tawa. Add crushed garlic (from 1 pod, approximately 5-6 cloves) and fry until it turns light brown.

  3. 3.Add Onions, Chilies, and Curry Leaves

    Add 1 bowl of finely chopped onions to the tawa and fry until they become light brown. Then, add 5-6 finely chopped green chilies and a few curry leaves. Continue to fry.

  4. 4.Season with Salt and Add Tomatoes

    Add salt to taste to the mixture and mix well. Next, add 1 bowl of finely chopped tomatoes and fry until they soften.

  5. 5.Add Dry Spices

    Add 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp jeera powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp pepper powder, and 2 tsp chili powder to the tawa.

  6. 6.Cook Masala

    Add a little water to the spices and fry the masala mixture until the oil separates and the mixture is well combined and fragrant.

  7. 7.Add Chicken and Cook

    Add the marinated chicken pieces to the tawa. Mix the chicken thoroughly with the masala. Cover the tawa with a lid and let it cook for 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to tenderize.

  8. 8.Finish Cooking and Garnish

    Remove the lid. The chicken should be cooked through and the oil should have separated. Stir the chicken again. Finally, garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and give it one last mix.

  9. 9.Serve

    Serve the spicy tawa chicken hot, garnished with fresh green chilies, tomato slices, and carrot slices as desired.
