Follow each step to make the recipe successfully.
Add 1 cup of rava (sooji) to a pan. Roast it on a medium flame for , stirring continuously, until it's lightly and aromatic but not browned. Transfer the roasted rava to a plate and let it cool.
In the same pan, add 3 tablespoons of oil. Once hot, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then, add 10-12 curry leaves and for a few seconds.
Add 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped capsicum to the pan. well on a medium flame until the onions turn slightly pink and the capsicum softens slightly.
Add the roasted rava/sooji back into the pan with the vegetables. Add salt to taste and 2 chopped green chillies. Mix everything well on a medium flame for , ensuring the rava doesn't brown.
In a separate pot, boil 4 cups of water. Once boiling, carefully add the hot water to the rava mixture in the pan. Mix well on a medium flame until the water is absorbed and the upma starts to thicken.
Once the upma has thickened, add 1 chopped tomato and 2 tablespoons of green coriander. Mix well on a medium flame for another . Finally, squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the upma and give it a final mix.
Serve the delicious and nutritious upma hot. You can press it into a small bowl to give it a neat shape before serving.
