Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Spinach

Take 200 grams of spinach and blanch it in hot water for 2 minutes. After blanching, sieve the spinach to remove excess water and then chop it finely.

Step 2: Make the White Sauce Base

In a preheated pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add 2 tablespoons of plain flour and sauté it on a medium flame until it turns light brown, stirring continuously.

Step 3: Thicken the Sauce

Gradually add 1 cup of milk to the flour and butter mixture, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency.

Step 4: Add Corn and Spinach

Add 1/2 cup of sweet corn to the thickened sauce and mix well. Then, add the finely chopped spinach and mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

Step 5: Season the Mixture

Add salt to taste, keeping in mind that processed cheese also contains salt. Then, add 1/2 teaspoon of crushed black pepper and mix everything well.

Step 6: Add Cheese and Combine

Transfer the spinach and corn mixture into a bowl. Add 1 cup of grated processed cheese and mix well until the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Step 7: Assemble the Sandwiches

Take two slices of bread. Spread the prepared spinach, corn, and cheese mixture evenly on one slice. Place the second slice of bread on top to form a sandwich.

Step 8: Prepare for Air Frying

Apply butter generously on one side of the assembled sandwich. Place the sandwich on an air fryer rack, then apply butter on the other side as well. Insert toothpicks into the sandwich corners to prevent the filling from coming out during cooking.

Step 9: Air Fry the Sandwiches

Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 205°C. Once preheated, place the prepared sandwich inside. Set the air fryer to 190°C and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until both sides are golden brown and crispy.

Step 10: Serve the Sandwich

Carefully remove the air-fried sandwich from the air fryer. Remove the toothpicks, cut the sandwich in half, and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup.

Pro Tips

Stir the milk continuously when adding it to the flour and butter mixture to prevent lumps.

Adjust salt carefully, as processed cheese also contains salt.

Use toothpicks to secure the sandwich filling during air frying to prevent it from oozing out.

Recipe Variations

Add finely chopped garlic or onion to the butter before adding flour for extra flavor.

Experiment with different types of cheese like mozzarella or cheddar for varied taste and melt.

Include other vegetables like finely diced bell peppers or mushrooms for more texture and nutrients.
