For Custard Mixture

  • 1 + 1/3 tbspVanilla Custard Powder
  • 1/2 Cup (125 ml)Fresh Milk

For Milk Base

  • 2 Cups (500 ml)Full Fat Milk
  • 4-5 tbspSugar
  • 3-4Green Cardamom Pods

For Filling

  • 1/3 CupWhipping Cream
  • to tasteChopped Nuts (Almonds, Coconut Flakes)

For Assembly & Garnish

  • 6Small Bread Slices
  • to tasteChopped Nuts (Pistachios, Almonds, Coconut Flakes)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1.Prepare the Custard Mixture

In a bowl, combine vanilla custard powder and fresh milk. Mix until there are no lumps. Set this mixture aside.

  2. 2.Prepare the Milk Base

Pour full-fat milk into a pan. Add sugar and green cardamom pods (cracked open for better flavor). Bring the milk to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3.Infuse and Thicken Milk Base

Once the milk boils, remove the cardamom shells, leaving the seeds in the milk. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes over medium-low heat. Stir the reserved custard mixture again, then slowly pour it into the boiling milk while continuously stirring to prevent lumps. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is slightly thickened but still has a runny, pourable consistency. Turn off the heat and set aside.

  4. 4.Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1/3 cup of whipping cream until soft peaks form. If using dairy cream or malai, add sugar and vanilla essence to taste before whipping.

  5. 5.Prepare Bread Sandwiches

Take 6 small bread slices and remove their crusts. Spread the whipped cream evenly over one bread slice. Sprinkle with chopped nuts (like almonds and coconut flakes). Cover with another bread slice to form a sandwich. Cut the sandwich into your desired shape, such as triangles.

  6. 6.Assemble the Dessert

In a serving dish, spread a thin layer of the still-warm custard. Arrange the creamy bread sandwiches over the custard in a random pattern. Pour the remaining prepared custard evenly over the top of the bread pieces.

  7. 7.Garnish and Chill

Garnish the dessert with additional chopped nuts, such as pistachios, almonds, and coconut flakes. Refrigerate the dessert for at least 3-4 hours, or until it is completely chilled and set.

  8. 8.Serve

Serve the creamy bread custard delight chilled and enjoy its soft, milky, and melt-in-your-mouth texture.
