Learn how to make simple, no fuss, healthier Butter chicken with a few spices. In this recipe chicken is marinaded with yogurt, salt, garam masala, tandoori pwd and cinnamon, cooked in the oven and then added in a delicious tomato-onion based gravy. Try it and we are sure you will love this super simple version of Butter Chicken.

Servings: 4 Preparation time:
Ingredients:
  • Chicken, Meat And Skin And Giblets And Neck, Raw, Boneless Chicken 400 gms chicken (breast/ 2 big pieces)
  • Yogurt, Plain, Low Fat, Curd, yoghurt 2tbsp yogurt
  • Salt, Common Salt, Rock Salt, Table Salt Salt as per taste
  • Garam Masala Powder, NITU DIDIs garam masala powder 1tsp garam masala
  • Cinnamon, Ground, Cinamon, Dalchini, Cinnamon Powder, Cinnamon Sticks 1tsp cinnamon powder
  • Tandoori Masala Powder, 2tsp tandoori powder
  • 1 piece of baking sheet
  • Butter, 3tbsp of butter (ghee/oil)
  • Coriander Seeds, Hara Dhaniya 1tsp coriander seeds
  • Onions, Raw, Onions 2 onions (small chopped)
  • Garlic, Raw, Garlic flakes, Lahsun, grated garlic, Garlic pods 4 cloves of garlic(chopped)
  • Tomatoes, Red, Ripe, Raw, Red Tomato 4 tomatoes (chopped)
  • Milk, Producer, Warm, hot 2tbsp milk
  • ½ cup cream milk
  • Methi Leaves, Fenugreek Leaves 1tsp fenugreek leaves (dry)
  • Coriander Leaf Corriander, Cilantro Leaves, Green, Leaves, Parsley Leaves, Coriander Cilantro leaves (for garnish)

Instructions (Preparation Steps):

  • At first take the chicken pieces in a bowl
  • Add the yogurt all over the chicken pieces
  • And sprinkle salt all over
  • Put garam masala, tandoori powder and cinnamon powder all over the chicken pieces
  • Marinade the chicken for an hour
  • Now take the baking sheet
  • Put few drops of oil on it and spread it well
  • Now put the marinated chicken pieces on the baking sheet
  • Now put the chicken in the oven in 400 degree Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes
  • When the chicken is done cut it into pieces
  • Put 3tbsp of butter on a fry pan and let it melt
  • Add coriander seeds
  • Put chopped onions then
  • Add chopped garlic and salt
  • Mix them well and fry for a minute
  • Now add the chopped tomatoes and mix well
  • Cook the tomatoes till they become tender
  • Now blend the mixture with 2tbsp of milk and make tomato gravy
  • Now add the tomato gravy with the chicken pieces
  • Mix them well
  • Cook the chicken in the gravy for 4-5 minutes
  • Add ½ cup of milk
  • Pour the cream milk now
  • Mix them well and simmer for 3-4 minutes
  • At last sprinkle the dry fenugreek leaves all over the recipe
  • Simple butter chicken is ready
  • Garnish it with cilantro leaves before serve

Cook's Tip:
Sometimes cooking requires a lot of pre-preparation. Make masalas ahead of the time. Stock the masala in the freezer till not required for cooking. This method will save a lot of time

    Great recipe, we just added less butter in our version and didn't have mango powder so tweaked a few points, turned out really nice and tasty though!
