Learn how to make fresh Sambhar Masala Powder at home which is a versatile powder made by roasting whole Indian spices and is used quite often in South Indian Cooking. It has a great flavor and good shelf life.

Servings: 1 Preparation time:
Ingredients:
  • Coriander Seeds, Hara Dhaniya 2tbsp coriander seeds
  • Cumin Seed, Shahi Jeera, Nitu Didi cumin seed 2tbsp cumin seeds
  • Peppers, Hot Chili, Red, Raw, Red Chilies, Chillies, Dry Red Chillies, Chilly 2 red chilies
  • Turmeric, Ground,powder, Haldi, Nitu Didi turmeric powder 1tsp turmeric (2 pieces whole)
  • 1tsp hing powder
  • Coconut , Raw, Fresh 2tbsp coconut (grated)
  • Curry Leaf, Murraya Koenigi, Karivepallai, Curry Leaves, dry curry leaves 10 curry leaves (dry)
  • Chickpeas, Garbanzo Beans, Bengalgram, Mature Seeds, Raw, Channa, Kabuli Chana Dal, Chana Dal, Gram Dhal 1tbsp chana dal
  • Fenugreek Seed, Kasuri Methi, Kasoori Methi Dried, Menthya, Vendayam, Menthulu,uluva 1tbsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1tbsp black pepper corn
  • 4 pieces cinnamon sticks
  • 1 piece black cardamom (big)
  • 2 pieces green cardamoms
  • Cloves, Ground, Clove, Lavang 4 pieces cloves
  • Mustard Seed, Ground, Sarson, Mustered,mustard Seed Powder 2tbsp mustard seeds
  • Rice, White, Short-grain, Raw, Plain 1tbsp rice
  • Urad Dal, White, Urad Dhall, Urad Dhal 1tbsp urad dal

Instructions (Preparation Steps):

  • Put a wok on the stove
  • Make the wok hot enough
  • Now put all the ingredients on the wok (except hing powder)
  • Dry roast them altogether in low flame and keep stirring
  • Roast them slowly
  • The red chilies will be turned brown and the turmeric will change color
  • Roast them for 8-10 minutes until all the ingredients are done remove them in a plate let them become cool
  • Now put the roasted ingredients in a blender
  • Put the hing powder now
  • Now grind them all in a fine powder
  • Sambhar masala powder is ready

Cook's Tip:
if u forget to soak the urad dhal overnight.no problem just soak them into hot water and put it into the thermoflask or in a hot box it will get soaked in an hour
