Ingredients:
  • Potato, Flesh And Skin, Raw, aloo Potatoes 4 [Medium size]
  • Turmeric, Ground,powder, Haldi, Nitu Didi turmeric powder Turmeric Powder ½ tsp.
  • Onions, Raw, Onions Onions 2 [Sliced]
  • Hing, Asafoetida, Asafetida, Hingu, Ingua,perungayam, Asaefotida, Asafetida Pd Asafetida Powder ¼ tsp.
  • Green Chillies, Chilies, Hot Chili, Green, Raw, Chilli Green chillies 4 [Minced]
  • Mustard Seed, Ground, Sarson, Mustered,mustard Seed Powder Mustard seeds ½ tsp.
  • Garam Masala Powder, NITU DIDIs garam masala powder Garam masala 1 tsp.
  • Salt, Common Salt, Rock Salt, Table Salt Salt to taste
  • Tamarinds, Raw, Imli, Tamarind Paste, Tamarind, Tamarid Tamarind paste 2 tsp.
  • Canola Oil, Vegetable Oil, Cooking Oil 1 tbsp.
  • Coriander Leaf Corriander, Cilantro Leaves, Green, Leaves, Parsley Leaves, Coriander Green coriander leaves
  • Brown Sugar, Brown Sugar 3 tsp

Instructions (Preparation Steps):

  • 1 .Chop potatoes in 1” cubes rinse in cold water and keep aside.
  • 2. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, asafetida, and turmeric powder.
  • 3. Add onions and green chillies and sauté for 2 minutes.
  • 4. Add potatoes and 2 cups of water, cover and simmer until potatoes are cooked.
  • 5. Add garam masala. Tamarind paste, sugar and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • 6. Garnish with green coriander and serve hot with rice or chapatti.

Cook's Tip:
Grind coarsely one lot of washed green chillies with a squeeze of lime juice, fill mini plastic cube tray and freeze. Then store in a freezer bag and use one or two cubes as required.
