Ingredients:
  • White Peas, White pea (Dabli Boot) -1.5 cup (soaked overnight)
  • Potato, Flesh And Skin, Raw, aloo Potato-2 (medium /grated after boil)
  • Tomatoes, Red, Ripe, Raw, Red Tomato Tomato-1 (large /finely chopped)
  • Egg, Whole, Raw, Anda Egg-2 (hard boiled and thinly sliced)
  • Cucumber, With Peel, Raw, spanish cucumber Cucumber-2 (chopped)
  • Onions, Raw, Onion Onion-2 (medium/chopped)
  • Cumin Seed, Shahi Jeera, Nitu Didi cumin seed Cumin seed-3 tsp
  • Peppers, Hot Chili, Red, Raw, Red Chilies, Chillies, Dry Red Chillies, Chilly (Whole) red chili - 2(to 3 pieces)
  • Kali Mirch Black Peppercorn, Milagu,kurumulaku, peppers (Whole) black pepper- 6(to 7 pieces)
  • Green Chillies, Chilies, Hot Chili, Green, Raw, Chilli, Chilly Green chili-5 (to 6 pieces/chopped)
  • Coriander Leaf Corriander, Cilantro Leaves, Green, Leaves, Parsley Leaves, Coriander Coriander leaves-1/2 cup (chopped)
  • (Tasting) salt-1/2 ts (optional)
  • Tamarinds, Raw, Imli, Tamarind Paste, Tamarind, Tamarid Tamarind-100 gm
  • Turmeric, Ground,powder, Haldi, Nitu Didi turmeric powder Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • Brown Sugar, Sugar-1 tsp
  • Salt, Common Salt, Rock Salt, Table Salt Salt- 1.5 tsp (or according to your taste)
  • Canola Oil, Vegetable Oil, Cooking Oil-2 Tbsp

Instructions (Preparation Steps):

  • Roast cumin seed,whole red chili and whole black pepper in a hot pan. Remove from the pan and allow it to cool. Grind all together and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add onion and fry until little golden color comes out. Set aside.
  • Take a cup of water. Add tamarind and boil a little. Then add sugar and 1/4 ts of dry roast masala powder. Boil another 5 minutes. Cool and strain. Keep the water portion for juice.
  • Boil soaked white peas with salt and turmeric powder until tender. It should not be too meshed. Don't make it full dry. There should be little water. Add fried onion,potato,tomato,green chili,rest of roast masala powder,tasting salt,2 Tbs tamarind juice and 1/3 portion boiled egg. Mix them thoroughly. Cook around 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from the pan to a serving bowl. Garnish with cucumber,sliced egg and coriander leaves. According to your taste you can add little tamarind juice.

Cook's Tip:
While boiling egg, add little salt in the water. It will help the egg to cook faster and the egg will not break.

Always warm dry spices like cumin seeds, cardamom, cloves, etc. on a griddle before powdering. They will grind faster and the powder will be finer.

To preserve the colour of turmeric Apply a little ghee to the bottom and sides of the jar before storing.
