Lady Finger/Okara/Bhindi Vegetable is a easy to make recipe as it hardly takes 15mins to make the same. Try it out. Servings: 3 Preparation time:
  • Onions, Raw, Onion 2 (Large) Onions (Sliced)
  • Okra, Raw, Ladys Finger, Bhindi 500 gms (Lady finger) Bhindi
  • Salt, Common Salt, Rock Salt, Table Salt Salt
  • Red Chili Powder, Paprika, Deggi Mirch, Red Chilli Powder, Red Chilly, Red Ch (Lal Mirch) Red Chilli Powder 1 pinch
  • Turmeric, Ground,powder, Haldi, Nitu Didi turmeric powder (Haldi) Turmeric Powder 1 pinch
  • Garam Masala Powder, NITU DIDIs garam masala powder Garam Masala 1 pinch
  • Mustard Oil, Sarson Tel (Refined Oil) Mustard Oil 2 tbsp

Instructions (Preparation Steps):

  • Wash the Lady Finger/okara 1 hour prior to cutting. Slice the Lady finger vertically/horizontally as desired.
  • Heat Oil in a pan/khadai. Add cumin seeds,. Fry the onions first.
  • Add half of the salt, turmeric, garam masala and red chilli powder. Saute for a minutes or two.
  • Add bhindi and cover and cook for a few minutes (About 4 to 5).
  • Remove the lid and cook, stirring lightly to just toss the bhindi. Should not take more than 5 minutes. Adjust seasonings. If you mix the seeds come out and the sliminess increases.
  • Remove and serve hot with roti or dal-rice.

Cook's Tip:
To preserve the colour of turmeric Apply a little ghee to the bottom and sides of the jar before storing.
Icecreams set faster and better in aluminium containers. Also, place a thick plastic sheet or spread some salt under the container to keep it from sticking to the floor of the freezer.
Warm mustard oil with garlic until fragrant and rub the oil on feet and palm. It will relief you from cough quickly.
